With the core members of David Marriott, Nathan Vetter, Stuart Hambley and Nelson Bell, the Northwest Neo-Sackbut Ensemble is a quasi-free-jazz-avant-classical-improvisatory ensemble of Seattle-area trombone and low brass players. With nods to Archie Shepp, Roswell Rudd, Stuart Dempster, and George Lewis, plus guest performers on a variety of instruments.
David Marriott and Pop Culture includes Marc Fendel on alto saxophone, Geoff Harper on bass, and Eric Eagle on drums. Blending acoustic instruments with electronic manipulation and external audio, Pop Culture explores the themes of popular films, television, art, politics and more through original compositions and existing compositions from the jazz canon related to these themes.
